Conservatism and the GOP

Yesterday I watched Hardball's Chris Matthews grill Joe Scarborough asking him about conservatism and the Republican party. I liked what Joe had to say. Very interesting if you have a few minutes to listen in.

  1. Conservatives? Reality?!? Bwahahahahahaha!

Of course, that reaction is almost entirely based on Bush's foreign policy, which he quickly agrees with and says that's not what conservativism should be. Maybe their is hope for the Republican party.

I disagree with him on many policy issues, but he sounds like he can be a good thing for the GOP. He seems like the type I can have disagreements with and not be caricaturized as un-American or evil. That would be good for America. You know, an adversary not an enemy.

  2. Ditto this for me sid: "an adversary not an enemy". I think that diversity of thought is good for America.. sad that so many think it isn't.

  5. Forget, please, "conservatism." It has been, operationally, de facto, Godless and therefore irrelevant. Secular conservatism will not defeat secular liberalism because to God both are two atheistic peas-in-a-pod and thus predestined to failure. As Stonewall Jackson's Chief of Staff R.L. Dabney said of such a humanistic belief more than 100 years ago:

"[Secular conservatism] is a party which never conserves anything. Its history has been that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation. What was the resisted novelty of yesterday is today .one of the accepted principles of conservatism; it is now conservative only in affecting to resist the next innovation, which will tomorrow be forced upon its timidity and will be succeeded by some third revolution; to be denounced and then adopted in its turn. American conservatism is merely the shadow that follows Radicalism as it moves forward towards perdition. It remains behind it, but never retards it, and always advances near its leader. This pretended salt bath utterly lost its savor: wherewith shall it be salted? Its impotency is not hard, indeed, to explain. It is worthless because it is the conservatism of expediency only, and not of sturdy principle. It intends to risk nothing serious for the sake of the truth."

Our country is collapsing because we have turned our back on God (Psalm 9:17) and refused to kiss His Son (Psalm 2).

PS – And “Mr. Worldly Wiseman” Rush Limbaugh never made a bigger ass of himself than at CPAC where he told that blasphemous “joke” about himself and God.

  6. Thanks for stopping by John. I was wondering if you knew of a country that is not "collapsing" because they have followed God? Seems that most governments operate independent from God.

  7. I believe that all governments that are Godless are in the process of collapsing, that all such Godless governments are founded on sand, and are laboring in vain. And I believe this because God says this in His Word.

  8. Understand where you are coming from John. I am just wondering if the US is any different from any other nation? Do you know of any "Godly" nations?

  10. Thx John.. I checked your site out for info on other godly or ungodly countries and only found something on China.. an ungodly government for sure. Your site doesn't seem to be of an international nature. I am missing something? Did you have a particular article in mind for me to look at?

I guess I am trying to understand what your are trying to communicate when you say: "Our country is collapsing because we have turned our back on God (Psalm 9:17) and refused to kiss His Son (Psalm 2)."

If there are no countries that measure up to Psalm 9:17 and Psalm 2 then what are you using as a measure of "godly". IMO no nation has ever measured up to the description of "godly".. but I may be mistaken.

Your organization's mission statement contains this statement:

"It is the duty of civil government to secure, protect and defend these God given rights, to acknowledge our Creator, glorify Him and make Him known; and when civil government becomes destructive of these God given purposes, it is our duty to alter or abolish such Godless government."

Do you know of such a civil government in any country? If you cannot give me some details then I am wondering what exactly the statement is referencing.

I am trying to be argumentative.. just trying to understand the point that you are making.

Hope your day is going well.

  11. Before I go any further, Bob, are you a Christian? What kind of church do you attend? Thx. JL

  12. Here is the address for my Christian testimony.. while you are there you can listen to a few of my sermons listed in the right hand column.. then feel free to make a determination for yourself whether I am Christian or not.

Once you make that evaluation then maybe you can share your testimony with me.

And I am okay if you are uncomfortable discussing the questions that I have previously posed.. not everyone is comfortable discussing this stuff.

Sorry if I put you on the defense.

    Peace, Bob
