$375,000 Lexus LF-A Roadster

With Christmas coming up I thought that I would bring this to your attention. According to this USA Today article Toyota became the hit of the Tokyo Motor Show yesterday with the debut of its $375,000 Lexus LFA supercar. You can order one for your favorite guy and they will customize it for you - but hurry because they are only making 500 of them.

  2. I felt a bit ornery this morning when I posted this.. wondered who would be the first to object :)

I do hope you get the keys to one of these Barbara.. as long as you take a Kansas road trip with it :)

  3. First, that's one of the many Lexus LFA show cars for the past few years. They've been showing it for several years now, it's now in production.

Second, the production car is even uglier than that one, and that's saying something. It's interesting looking, but not really lust worthy in my book. For $375K it ought to be lust worthy.

Third, if you took the same money, you could buy a new V10 powered Audi R8 sports car, ticking ALL the option boxes, then buy a new Lincoln MKT crossover, ticking all it's option boxes, then get a new Cadillac CTS-V (their sports sedan with the Corvette engine),ticking all it's option boxes and still have enough left over for a new Lotus Elise SC.

That's 3 fun cars (sports car, sports sedan and track car) and a family hauler for the same money.

I guess you can tell, I'm not impressed. :-D

  4. I'm feeling ornery as well, Bob, but for a different reason. I'm sure I'll be lambasted by someone here, but with extremely rare exceptions, Lexus drivers are among the nastiest drivers on the road. Some people seem to think if they own a very expensive car, they (literally) own the road as well.

BTW, I am sure most of these will be going to the oil barons in the Middle East or others with more money than they can spend in a lifetime. Anyone driving one of these in America right now would have to keep to the back roads or risk being picked off by a very angry anti-social type.

  5. I thought of you when I posted this Doug and knew you would have something to say.. you are all about Cool Wheels :)

Lexus used cars have been good to me CR. I gave my daughter my very old 95 Lexus ES300.. it still looks new and still runs great. I wish I didn't have to trade my Lexus RS300 in on Bigfoot.. it was a smooth and quiet ride for an SUV.. and got it used so the price was ok.. and I try to be nice when I drive.. but I am from NYC :)

  7. I don't expect crownring to get lambasted for telling it like it is most of the time, present company excepted. I used to commute between Westchester County, NY and Fairfield Count, CT. While waiting patiently for one's turn on the highway connector between the NY road and the CT road, I can count on most of the Lexus', BMW's and Mercedes to drive to the head of the line and cut in. These drivers don't worry about inheriting the world, they act like it is already theirs. Present company excepted!

  9. That is a snazzy looking car. I was going to say I wouldn't mind one but there would be one problem ... not enough room to haul backpacks. :)
