The Garbage Dispensor
Yesterday Barbara commented on my State of the Heroes post saying "I feel like I am missing out cause I don't watch Heroes!!!!". That got me to thinking. I have to admit that I watch a bit more than I used to. I didn't used to have it on during supper but sometimes do now - I am a Seinfeldaholic. What do you all think about the Tube? If you watch, do you have any boundaries or guidelines about when or what you watch?

I don’t watch very much during the day and I too love the Jerry.
ReplyDeleteI watch a select few shows like Top Chef, Without a Trace, The Nine, and Grey’s Anatomy. I have taken a liking to Men In Trees. I turn the thing off if it doesn’t have anything I want to watch. My kids keep it on the Disney Channel and Nick as much as possible if the science channel doesn’t appeal to them.
The rules in the house are that they can’t watch anything that has blood and guts, cursing, or sex for the kids. I try to be careful with them in the room.
I want the thing off when we gather around the dinner table. It’s a good time to reconnect with each other.
I grew up in a home where the thing never died. 6:00 to 1:00, it was on and loud all day. I simply cannot be in a room with it, and not be paying attention to it.
ReplyDeleteSo it pretty much only comes on for 8 weeks a year, about 45 minutes a day - during Grand Slam tennis tourneys. When I need something, though, I usually slip in a movie I've already seen, and watch it 15-40 minutes a night until I've finished it.
