But the argument is based on assumptions: the church is a holy temple. (metaphor is not established fact). The other assumption is that the role of the church is to avoid politics Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-749955731953911627.post-15601262940856533502012-09-15T09:55:45.268-05:002012-09-15T09:55:45.268-05:00Thanks for the great comment Oscar! Some issues are a hotbed for making people mad more than others.

When it is about something "minor", like stealing, is it political or religious?
When it is about something "major", like abortion, is it political or religious?

They are both political and religious. How do we gauge how political or religious they are? How should we divide what issues should not be talked about in church? Interesting though, Jesus did seem to jump into religious politics with both feet.kc bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17440862813109808755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-749955731953911627.post-87834378420011277222012-07-16T20:08:34.171-05:002012-07-16T20:08:34.171-05:00There are different aspects of politics. Endorsing a candidate involves not only his stance on the issues but our opinion of his or her character. This is a judgment I feel should be left to the individual and I feel should not be dictated in church.Mike Erich the Mad Theologianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04682504413797395786noreply@blogger.com
