God Plates

The Florida legislature is considering a specialty license plate design that would include a cross, a stained glass window and the words 'I Believe'.

If approved it would be the first state to have a license plate featuring a religious symbol that it is not part of a college logo.

What do you think? Would you buy one of these if your state offered it?

  3. If offered in Virginia, I probably would choose one. Of course, the way things go in our state legislature, it would be years before they ever got around to debating it.

I'm from a town we don't need to advertise - most people know.

Isn't it the Texans who say - to much stetson not enough cattle? - I'm a kiwi so I'm not real sure.

  6. I wouldn't buy one, but That's more a personal preference than anything.

  8. Nah. If folks can't tell you're a Christian by the way you drive (or if they can tell you aren't) what's the point? ;-)

  9. I'd only consider doing it to tick off the ACLU, who is challenging these (but forced the FL legislature a few years ago to drop any restriction on foul language on bumper stickers, saying "people can tell their children to look up or away from the words," but when a voluntary "I Believe" plate comes up they scream that the state is forcing religion on people's sensibilities). I don't put any bumper stickers or advertising on my car, but as I said, I'd consider it or a "Choose Life" plate if one ever became available in IL.
